Hi everyone, I'm Dalma - the artist behind Freedom of Shapes.
I've been surrounded by art for as long as I can remember. My creative journey began with music; I started learning the violin at a young age, which taught me patience, attention to detail, and the power of expression through form. (I'll be honest though, I'm not sure those first seven years of squeaky sounds really count as part of my artistic evolution!)
Over time I found my way into working with my hands, and making things became something much more than a pastime. It became a form of therapy, a way to break from routine, reconnect with myself, and support my mental well-being. That creative outlet gradually grew into a genuine passion for making; first jewellery, and eventually abstract art.
Today, Freedom of Shapes is an abstract art studio and small-batch jewellery line. My art practice started with watercolours and has grown into mixed media and abstract art, exploring texture, colour, and layering to create one-of-a-kind pieces. That same curiosity carries into my jewellery: I started out working with polymer clay, and while I don't work with clay anymore, that early experimentation shaped how I approach every piece today. Now I work with beads, semi-precious stones, and jewellery components to create designs that feel individual and considered - whether that's a beaded gemstone bracelet or a curated piece made from repurposed elements given new life.
Everything I make, art or jewellery, is designed to bring a little joy, confidence, and beauty into everyday life.
I'm also currently taking on commissions so if you have something in mind, I'd love to help bring it to life.
If you'd like to see behind the scenes of my process, come find me on Instagram @freedom_of_shapes - let's keep discovering beauty together.
Lots of love! xoxo
